Brazil Ad Market Grows 6.9% in the first quarter

Media spending amounted to US$3.7 billion between January and March 2012

Ad spending totaled US$3.7 billion between January and March 2012, rising by 6.9% year-over-year (not adjusted for inflation) according to Projeto Inter-Meios. In 1Q11, ad revenues came to US$3.4 billion.

All media recorded higher revenues in 2012 in relation to 2011, highlighting Cinema, whose revenues rose by 30.2%. Pay TV and online platforms recorded increases of 19.2% and 17.4% respectively. Radio recorded the lowest increase, 7.8%.
The highest-grossing media – broadcast TV, newspapers and magazines –
and their share in the advertising pie (65.4%, 11.9% and 5.5%) remain the same.
